David Reese RVT/ Owner
David was born and raised in Thomson, Ga. and has been a life long member of the community. He grew up bringing his pets to Dr. Ruehle , the founder of McDuffie Animal Hospital . He went to Thomson High School with Dr. Ruth McNeill and Leigh Anne.David joined the team at McDuffie Animal Hospital in 1992 as a veterinary assistant and received his Veterinary Technician License in 2004.
He purchased the hospital from Dr. Ruehle in 2008.
He has been married to Denise for 21 years and along with their 3 children Tanner, Ella G and Ashland make their home in Thomson.
The Reese’s live on a small farm with 7 dogs, horses and cattle.
Dr. Ruth McNeill
Dr. Ruth McNeill is a native of Thomson. She grew up bringing all her pets to Dr. Ruehle and went to Thomson High School with David and Leigh Anne . She graduated from University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine and practiced at Westside Animal Hospital in Augusta for 14 years. She has been at Thomson McDuffie Animal Hospital since 2015.
She lives with her son Edwin and dog Duck .
Dr. Gary L. Wilkes, DVM
Dr. Gary Wilkes was born and raised in Dotham, Alabama. He graduated from Dothan High School in 1964. He attended Chipola Junior College in Marianna, Florida 1964-1966. Dr. Wilkes later graduted from Auburn University, College of Veterinary Medicine, in 1972.
He started practicing with Dr. H.G. Blalock in Augusta from 1972-1977. Dr. Wilkes began his own private practice in Augusta, Georgia called Westside Animal Hospital in 1977, and practiced there until 2018, when he sold his practice.
Dr. Wilkes lives on a small horse farm in Harlem, Georgia with his wife of fifty years, the former Margaret Owens, also from Dotham, Alabama. They have three children Scott, Tara, and Chad. They have also been blessed with eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. All their children and grandchildren live in Harlem, Grovetown, Evans and Summerville South Carolina.
He enjoys being a Joint Master of Belle Meade Hunt where he. has 3 generations of family members, that ride horses together. Dr. Wilkes is a member of Harlem Baptist Church in Harlem, Georgia. He has also been a member of National Hills Lions Club in Augusta, Georgia for over forty years. He also served as President and Melvin Jones Fellow of National Hills Lions Club.
After only one week of selling his practice in Augusta, he came to work at Thomson McDuffie Animal Hospital in Thomson, Georgia.
Leigh Anne Stover
Leigh Anne Stover was born and raised in Thomson, GA. Leigh Anne graduated from Thomson High School and went to school with Dr. Ruth McNeill and David Reese. She has always been around animals all her life. Her grandfather had a small farm and had any kind of animal imaginable.
She is married to Mark Stover, and has 2 daughters, Breanna and Savannah Dans. In her spare time she enjoys watching her oldest daughter play softball for Thomson high School and spending time with Savannah. The Stovers have 3 cats and 4 dogs, all of which are rescues but 1.

Tanner Reese
Tanner was born and raised in Thomson, Ga. He grew up always visiting the clinic to watch surgeries and to learn anything he could. This sparked a passion at an early age for learning about wildlife. Tanner is now looking at schools and opportunities to pursue that passion.
Tanner began working at Thomson McDuffie Animal Hospital in 2015 and is now the “Boarding Manager”.
He currently has one dog, a Siberian Husky named “Finn’, that unfortunately is as hard-headed as her owner.
